Terms of Service

sk8tags.com (“sk8tags”, “we”, “us”) is a community-maintained directory of the world’s skateparks. By using the site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site.

These terms are organised by who you are:

• Everyone — anyone who browses, searches, or submits a suggested change to a skatepark.
• Trusted reviewers — trusted members of the skate community who are invited to edit and rate skateparks.

Everyone

The directory is community-maintained

sk8tags is built and kept up to date by its community. Skatepark information — locations, features, conditions, and everything else — is contributed by people, and may be incomplete, inaccurate, or out of date. We do not independently verify it.

No warranty

The site and its data are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the information is accurate, complete, or current, or that the site will be available without interruption.

Skateparks are physical places — use at your own risk

Skateboarding and using skateparks carry inherent risks of injury. Listings on sk8tags are a guide only: a park may have closed, changed, deteriorated, or never have matched its description. Always assess a location and its condition yourself before skating, and never rely on sk8tags for your safety. You use the information, and visit any skatepark, entirely at your own risk.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the site or your reliance on its data — including from information that is wrong, missing, or out of date.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded.

Acceptable use

When using sk8tags, you must not:

• attempt to disrupt, attack, overload, or gain unauthorised access to the site or its systems;
• submit content that is false, misleading, unlawful, or that you have no right to submit; or
• use the site or its data in any way that breaks the law.

Submitting a change request

Anyone can suggest a correction to a skatepark by submitting a change request. By submitting one, you confirm you have the right to share the information, and you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual right to use, reproduce, adapt, publish, and sub-license your contribution — including under open-data licences such as the Open Database License (ODbL), under which we publish skatepark location data. We are not obliged to use or act on any submission.

What is open data, and what is not

sk8tags publishes a public open dataset of skatepark names and coordinates under the Open Database License (ODbL). Anyone may freely use, share, and build upon that data, provided they credit the source and keep their own derivative databases open under the same licence.

Everything else on sk8tags — including ratings, photos, videos, search data, and any other content not part of the published open export — is proprietary to sk8tags and is not made available under the open-data licence.

Trusted reviewers

In addition to the terms above (which apply to everyone), the following applies to reviewers.

Invited access

Park reviewer access is invite-only and is granted on trust. We may suspend or revoke reviewer access at any time, at our discretion — for example, if these terms are broken or access is misused. You are responsible for activity carried out under your reviewer access.

Reviewer obligations

Reviewers can edit the list of skateparks and their properties. You agree to:

• make edits only within the geographic area you have been authorised for;
• stay within any editing limits that apply to your access;
• make edits in good faith, accurately and to the best of your knowledge;
• not add private or secret spots, submit spam edits, or add parks you have not verified; and
• not misuse your trusted access in any way.

If you want to edit something outside of your authorised area, you can submit a request for someone more local to action. Similarly, you can review and apply public change requests suggested in your own area.

Attribution

Every edit you make is permanently and publicly attributed to your chosen public handle (for example, your Instagram username) on sk8tags. This is by design, and is part of how the community keeps the directory trustworthy.

Your contributions

Edits you make as a reviewer feed sk8tags’ open skatepark data. By making contributions, you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual right to use, reproduce, adapt, publish, and sub-license those contributions — including under open-data licences such as the Open Database License (ODbL), under which we publish skatepark location data. You confirm you have the right to make each contribution and to grant these rights. You accept these terms, including this grant, when you accept them on first sign-in.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date above when we do, and your continued use of the site means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any dispute relating to them or to the site will be subject to the courts of England and Wales. If you use the site as a consumer elsewhere, this does not deprive you of any protection given to you by the mandatory laws of your own country.
